So how do you do this? Well, the best approach is to work on it all the time. And of course there are no excuses. If you are planning to create more features than you are capable of working on, then that’s a huge red flag. Because it means that you’re actively trying to make things “better” instead of “better now.
Of course, you can always set up a system that lets you build and work on a single feature, and then you’re always working on it. You can also have a daily stand-up meeting with your project manager or someone else to review things. But if you’re too busy to make these weekly meetings then you’ve probably got a problem.
My project manager is actually more productive than I am, so I feel like I could try to work with him on a weekly basis. But I’m also not very good at writing code and so I don’t know if I could do all the coding that I need to to make something happen. Instead, I try to work with someone who I think is more at ease with the code than me.
A few weeks ago I was looking for a new project. I wasn’t very interested in taking on a project that was so far from me that I really didn’t know what it was. But I got a call from my project manager who was pretty excited to talk to me about the project. So I got to thinking about what I wanted to do with it. I really wanted to make sure the project was good and that it was going to be good.
It didn’t take me long to figure that out. As I was thinking about it, I heard about the “I have to do it this evening” thing. It was getting boring and really boring from there. So I thought if the project was going to be good, people would understand that it was going to be terrible. I guess they would understand that you have to do it tonight.
